Micaela, or "Mix" as the kids call her, should most definitely win the Ultimate Au Pair because she is superwoman! I am a single mom of three boys (5, 7, and 9) and Micaela is the superglue that holds our family together. We just renewed for a second year. One of my sons is on the autism spectrum and she is excellent in delicately handling his mood swings and particular needs. I am a government health official physician and often get called away without warning.
She has a contagious enthusiasm and my boys are in love with her. She invents lively backyard games and keeps those little boys on their toes, which is NOT an easy task! We have weekly meetings to coordinate calendars and she is always on top of every detail and schedule change. She plans ahead for each week to anticipate what they will need, whether it is special lunches or clothing for field trips. Micaela came with us on our annual camping trip into the Yosemite mountains for 9 days and slept in a sleeping bag right along side the boys. She adapts to any new environment and rises to every challenge.

She has also taught my boys much about Africa and the culture she came from. Her brother came to stay with us for 3 weeks from South Africa and the kids just loved him. They love her accent. She had to learn to drive on the "wrong" side of the road, but quickly adjusted to driving the giant family SUV with three loud boys in the back. What a trooper!
She bubbles over with creative energy and uses her artistic talents every day on the job. I always know their busy lives are in order with Micaela in charge, and I don't know what I will ever do without her.
