Playing It Safe at AuPairCare Academy

Summer is in full swing at AuPairCare Academy! Our staff is in the midst of our busy season training au pairs that have just entered the USA. There are many topics covered during our training but the most important is safety. Our training motto is 'Safety First' and we address a variety of safety issues in great detail because taking care of children is a big responsibility. Just a few of our current safety training topics include:

CPR & First Aid: Au pairs spend a great deal of time learning what to do in case of an emergency. We take great pride in our intense CPR and first aid training (most au pairs end up breaking a sweat while practicing) and we are proud of our au pairs for the hard work they put into their learning.

Driving: Staying safe while driving especially when it comes to cell phone use is another important safety topic addressed. On the road and off the phone is a safety phrase discussed in great detail. Au pairs are encouraged to take the pledge on ItCanWait.com " a popular nationwide organization creating awareness on the importance of not texting while driving.

Social Media: Given that we live in a world filled with social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram anyone?) precautions are shared when it comes to posting personal information. Keeping things private including pictures of host children is also discussed.

No matter what the situation, we're prepping everyone to make safe decisions. Safety is our #1 priority and our au pairs know that their most important job responsibility is keeping the kids safe.

Crystal Bichalski began working as a trainer for AuPairCare's Academy in 2007. She has met thousands of au pairs during their training and helped them to transition into American culture. When she's not working with au pairs, she's being a Mom to her 7 year old daughter and 3 year old son.
