Unplugging in a Plugged in World

Raise your hand if you’re trying to be Supermom. Superdad? Yeah, that is what I suspected. It’s tough to care for your family, your spouse and your ailing dad while also killing it at your job and, if you’re lucky, hitting the gym or reading a good book.

Product Registration Cards: For Children’s Safety

Parenting in the 21st century requires an extensive toolkit. Everything from booster seats to infant slings are necessities we rely on to make parenthood a little easier. It's a fact of life, though, that these awesome products can sometimes have a defect. 2013 Ultimate Au Pair Winner Dijana from Serbia

I love having Dijana in our home because she is not thought of as “help” but part of the family. She and I have a wonderful relationship. She knows what I expect and I know what she expects. And she’s always a step ahead of me. I am amazed how many times we are in the car and I say I forgot something only to find out she remembered it. Furthermore, she is consistently concerned about my children’s safety. She is always trying to teach my children and make each day a learning experience.

The bulk of that expense often comes from child care -- but asking relatives to pitch in often leads to uncomfortable tension. Read on for a step-by-step guide to saving on child care costs while keeping your kids safe and your family happy.

2013 Ultimate Au Pair Finalist Cata from Colombia

Cata is the au pair of our dreams, except we wouldn’t have known to dream this big.

My husband and I are very blessed to have three wonderful kids – 4, 2 and 8 months – and two great jobs. However, with these blessings come, well, an insane schedule. And before our au pair, Cata, arrived, we were drowning.

Au Pairs Give Edina Families More than Child Care

In the popular imagination, hiring an au pair is often considered an extravagance, a thing of fantasy. Think Mary Poppins. Think Maria von Trapp. However, the realities of modern American life make au pairs surprisingly practical and flexible solution for some Edina families.
