Pumpkin Decorating for the Little Hero Foundation

Pumpkin Decorating for the Little Hero Foundation

As families and au pairs remain safe at home, AuPairCare has continued to hold virtual events for all participants across the country to provide fun and engaging social opportunities during the pandemic. At one of our recent virtual events, we held a pumpkin decorating and craft session for an amazing cause! All au pairs and host families were asked to decorate a pumpkin with gold in support of children’s cancer research. They were encouraged to share their pumpkin creations on social media with the hashtag #goldpumpkinsforthecure. For every pumpkin shared, $1 will be donated to advanced children's cancer research dedicated to more individualized treatments, led by the Little Hero Foundation. During our virtual event, host children and au pairs had an opportunity to show off their creativity, learn about the heart behind Little Hero Foundation from the Founder, and participate in a fun fall pumpkin craft, all from the safety of home.

Au pair Anna from Germany shared, "It was a long and hard process creating our pumpkin. But with my host kids on the side singing and dancing together, and to do good so easily for the purpose, the time went by to create this great event. It was great to help with only adding gold!"

Maxime Barry, Founder of the Little Hero Foundation, said “Host families and kids from coast to coast joined in the fun Zoom meeting and crafted fabulous gold pumpkin sun catchers led by AuPairCare Area Director Michele. Thank you for making a difference, AuPairCare! For every gold pumpkin, Little Hero Foundation is donating $1 to support pediatric oncology research up to $10,000!”

This virtual session was a perfect event just in time for the holiday season. It was also a great opportunity to teach AuPairCare au pairs and host families about an important cause, and how small acts of service can result in great things for the world. Not only were the au pairs and host kids able to spend quality time together by doing this fun arts and crafts project, but they were also able to connect and share their beautiful creations with other au pairs, host families, and staff across the country!
