Carolin from Germany Joins Boston College's Marching Band

Carolin came to Boston as an au pair in August 2013 to embark on an adventure of a lifetime. While living in the US with an American Host Family was a dream come true, Carolin had another dream in mind- to play with Boston College's marching band during their football games. She wasn't intimidated at the idea of playing in front of thousands of people in a different country. Instead, Carolin wrote to the Marching Band Director to ask for an audition. She told him she had played the flute in a marching band in Germany and it was a big dream of hers to play in America too. A few days later, Carolin was invited to the stadium to listen to the band, meet the fellow band members and try out.

'It was amazing for me and the girls who were also playing flute came to me, talked with me and some minutes later I had my own flute and played already with them.'

Carolin made the cut! She got a uniform and was on the field at the next home football game, playing her flute. Great job Carolin, for having the courage to follow your dreams!
