Three Interviewing Tips for Au Pairs

Three Interviewing Tips for Au Pairs

Congratulations, your profile is online and you're receiving interview requests! Now comes the exciting part - speaking with families around the country who could be your perfect match! There are so many different types of host families; some living in friendly towns and some living in busy cities, parents with older or younger children (or both!), or families ranging from big broods to a close-knit parent and child. Both you and your future host family need to make sure you are the best fit for each other, so here the top three tips to consider when you're preparing to video chat:

1. Say 'YES' to the interview!

Keep an open mind and say yes to any family who wants to interview you. You never know which family will be your perfect match.

2. The right host family might not be what you expect!

Your perfect host family might live in a different state than you expected. They might have a 2-year-old and 4-year-old twins instead of a 5-year-old and a 7-year-old. They might live in the suburbs instead of a big city. That's okay!

3. Look for a family, not a location!

Don't choose a host family just because they live in a particular area. You can always visit those places during your program year! It's more important to be with the right family.
