While there are many holidays to discover when moving to new place, April 22nd remains the same. International Earth Day is an extremely important day to recognize the beauty of the Earth, as well as take steps to save it. Help your host children discover their love for Mother Nature at a young age and reduce, reuse, and recycle with these Earth Day crafts.

Toilet Paper Bird Feeder

What you’ll need:

  • Peanut butter or alternative (Sunflower butter, almond butter, etc.)
  • Popsicle sticks
  • Toilet paper rolls
  • Twine
  • Bird food

What you’ll do:

  • Use the popsicle stick to coat the outside of the toilet paper roll with your butter of choice.
  • Roll the coated roll in bird food until it is entirely covered.
  • Thread the twine in the top of the roll and make a knot.
  • Hang your new tasty bird snack outside for them to enjoy.

Recycled Tin Can Planters

What you’ll need:

  • Pipe cleaner
  • Pom poms
  • Googly eyes
  • Recycled tin cans
  • Succulent soil
  • Succulent
  • Nail
  • Hammer

What you’ll do:

  • Carefully use the hammer and nail to add holes to the bottom of the recycled tin can. Then add a hole on each side of the can to create your planter’s armholes.
  • Fill your can with succulent soil and add in your succulent.
  • Next, add your planter’s accessories by place pipe cleaner in the armholes. Decorate with googly eyes, pom poms, and whatever else you feel will make your planter complete. Don’t forget the pipe cleaner mouth!
