South African nanny finds a career caring for Lodi triplets

How far are you willing to go for a nanny? Another city? Another county? For one couple in Lodi, the search for an au pair took them all over the world — with the click of a button — and they found the nanny they were looking for in South Africa. Jeff and Nanci Johnston’s home seems peaceful on the outside, but on the inside the house is full of commotion, with busy parents, a golden retriever and an all-blonde, 2-year-old triplet troop. The Johnstons said they were always short on time when it came to balancing between home and work, and they needed an extra hand around the house. “The kids are usually very good, but they are still 2-year-olds,” Jeff Johnston said. “Having an extra set of eyes means you can look both directions.” That’s where 23-year-old Jessica Dunnington came into the picture, becoming the first au pair from the AuPairCare program to end up in Lodi, according to employee Kimberly Shaw. The Johnstons found Dunnington while searching through the AuPairCare website, which is set up similarly to a social media site like Facebook.

Lakeshore Elementary students learn Spanish through enrichment program

“Buenos días!” shouted the students of Lakeshore Elementary. They not only knew how to greet properly in Spanish but also knew their colors, numbers, animals, body parts, family designations, weather and happily sang a couple of songs in Spanish; complete with the motions. All of this was due to hard work by community volunteer Laura Suarez, an AuPairCare au pair from Columbia. Laura has always had a passion for helping children, and enjoyed her time spent teaching the students Spanish for the past two months.

Au pairs visit the most famous house in the Nation

This spring, 18 of our au pairs were lucky enough to visit and tour The White House! The White House, built in 1792 and home to all U.S. presidents since President John Adams, is arguably the most famous house in the world. Annually, thousands upon thousands of visitors from across the United States and the globe visit what was once referred to as ‘the President’s Palace’.
