At AuPairCare, we know that the most meaningful cultural exchange moments often happen in person—when au pairs gather to connect, reflect, and celebrate alongside one another. Whether it’s a casual coffee meetup or a themed holiday party, these events create lasting memories and lifelong friendships. Each month, our Area Directors across the country host gatherings that bring our au pair community closer together. Here’s a look at three standout events that showcase the joy, support, and global spirit of theAuPairCare program.
At a cafe in Encino, in the northern Los Angeles area, au pairs and Area Director, Caroline, kicked off the new year with a warm and welcoming coffee meetup at a local cafe in Los Angeles. This was the first gathering of the year, bringing together au pairs to share their New Year’s resolutions and connect as participants in the au pair program. Au pairs struck up conversations about goals, personal development, and shared tips and tricks for traveling the U.S.
This event was a warm welcome for au pairs who had just arrived from around the world the previous week. They had the chance to talk to au pairs in their extension year, giving them advice and sharing their experiences from their year before.
The meetup became a great opportunity for the new au pairs to learn about local education options, travel hacks, and upcoming cultural events in the city.Witnessing au pairs mentor new arrivals highlighted the strong support network that is created within the in-person AuPairCare community.
New au pair, Mimi, from Mexico stated:
"It is so great to learn from the au pairs who have been here already. I feel like I have learned so much from listening to their experiences here. It feels nice to have this community of other girls."
Brazilian au pair Thais said:
"It is nice to get together for the cultural connections; you always meet new au pairs, and make friends from new countries, sometimes even from your home country."
This New Year coffee meetup beautifully showcased the essence of the AuPairCare program—cultural exchange, community support, in-person connections, and personal growth. It was more than just a casual gathering; it was the start for participants to build lifelong friendships, share valuable knowledge, and create a strong sense of belonging among au pairs from around the world. Events like this continue to strengthen the bonds within the AuPairCare family, making each au pair's journey enriching and memorable.
On February 11th, AuPairCare hosted a Valentine’s Day party at our headquarters office in San Francisco, California. The event was filled with laughter and cultural connections as 36 au pairs, host families, host kids, and one host dog gathered together. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for au pairs and host families to mingle, enjoy delicious pizza and sweet treats, and take part in fun craft-making activities. The amazingAuPairCare field staff made a lively atmosphere, bringing everyone together to celebrate Valentine’s Day, make new friends, and to appreciate the in-person connections fostered through the au pair program.
The event was filled with special cultural exchange stories, with au pairs representing over 10 different countries. A standout moment was the story of two au pairs—one from China and the other from Taiwan—who met at the start of their journey in the U.S. They initially connected traveling together and bonded at AuPairCare Connect, only later to discover they had been placed with host families in San Francisco. Their friendship has flourished throughout their program year, serving as a beautiful example of how cultural exchange programs build lifelong friendships and meaningful global connections.
This Valentine’s Day celebration at AuPairCare headquarters was a blast. From shared laughter over pizza to discovering new customs, and forming friendships across cultures, everyone left with full hearts and a deeper appreciation for their exchange experience. Events like these continue to not only create cherished memories but also contribute to a more connected and understanding world. By fostering cross-cultural relationships, the au pair program plays a role in making the world safer, more prosperous place—one friendship at a time.

On March 8th, AuPairCare Area Director Ana hosted a heartfelt Cultural Connection in honor of International Women’s Day. Au pairs in the Northwest Dallas area—and even a few from other clusters and agencies—gathered lakeside to relax, reflect, and paint adorable teeny tiny canvases celebrating the women who inspire them.
With many new faces in the group, the event offered the perfect chance to build community while enjoying the beauty of a local city park. The setting, complete with ducks gliding by the lake, set the tone for a meaningful afternoon of art and connection.
Au Pair Catalina from Chile shared:
"I feel like I truly belong with my host family. My host mom is such a wonderful woman, and I wanted to paint something special for her. This was the perfect way to honor her—and I’m so thankful to Ana for planning this. I’ll never forget it."
Leticia, an au pair from Brazil, added:
"I invited au pairs from other clusters because Ana’s events are always fun. They give us a chance to do something we wouldn’t normally do on our own."
It was a special day celebrating women from around the world—and the meaningful connections that cultural exchange brings to life.
