My favorite thing about being an au pair was being a part of an American family! It's an experience you don't get from visiting as a tourist. I got four new "siblings" and my host mom became my best friend. I got to travel so many places and see new things and meet new people! Being an au pair has changed my life in so many different, positive, ways. It's a cultural exchange and a "give-and-take"; it feels like I've grown a lot as a person and I have new values. I'm a lot more independent now, more confident and happier. I have gained skills and knowledge that I didn't have before; I have learned a lot about the American history and traditions, I've improved my English and I have grown as a care taker. The biggest change is that I now have a second family and many new friends from all around the world!
