My name is Silvia Azuara Cardenas. I'm living in Peoria, Arizona. My host family is awesome, I feel like a part of the family, and the kids really like me!!
I want to write my experience as an au pair in the United States, which has been great and I have learned a lot. This cultural exchange program has everything that I want, such as caring for children, studying, improving my English language, living with an American family, knowing different cultures and customs and meeting new friends.
I want to start writing a little bit about my life; I think that way you can understand why I decided to live this beautiful experience. I was thinking to be an au pair a long time ago, but everybody knows that it is very difficult to leave their own life and people that they love. However, everybody has the opportunity to choose, and this time I chose to come and know a different life. I have always been an open minded person interested in sharing my ideas and costumes with other people interested in the same thing.
Here I met people from many countries. It is wonderful to have friends around the world. My au pair friends and I have the same interests. We can talk all day long because we are here living the same goal. Our promise is to see each other again and we wish to visit each others country. Moreover, we are very excited and interested in knowing each others customs and sharing with them in their real life. I want to keep my friendship with them forever, even my two friends who already finished their au pair program. We call each other, chat, and remember our good moments all the time.
Finally, I have been experiencing everything that I want at the same time, all my goals together in the same moment. I want to say thanks for giving this kind of chance to people from other countries. I am sure this program will continue for many years more providing opportunities for both foreign and American people.
