I am a girl from Thailand that wanted to find something new for my life and to being an au pair made my dream come true.
My name is 'PRAE'. I have never been far away from my family and home, so this is the first time for me that I have been far from my lovely mom, dad, and younger brother. My family worried about me because the Thai lifestyle is different from American, but I think this is a good experience for me to find something new.
The first reason that I decided to be an au pair is because I love children, not just to go to America.
My host family lives in Sunnyvale, CA. I take care of one baby. He's 8 month old. His name is Atticus.
My host mom's name is Dawn and host dad is Todd.
All the time that I stay with this family I think I'm a lucky girl. They made me feel like they are my family. They take me to tour around the city and try to make plans for my weekends because they don't want me to get bored. We always walk together in the park and go shopping. Every Friday we have dinner in a restaurant and I'm the one that chooses what kind of food we have.
Every day pass so fast for me because I'm so happy. Especially with my Atticus, he is so nice and easygoing. I love to take care of him, even my on day off. He is so cute!!! My host mom always tells me, "Today is your day off. You don't have to do that," but I don't think of this as work. Atticus seems like my younger brother. I love him now.
Nowadays my host parents call me super au pair! They always ask me about my tricks for taking care of Atticus because I can make him laugh and when he sees me he will have a big smile. I told her there is just one secret to taking care of the children, just give them love.
