Being professional, available, knowledgeable, consistent and direct are my keys to providing a great World Class Experience as an AuPairCare Area Director. These keys unlock the doors to extremely solid relationships with host families and au pairs. Not only do I feel my host families and au pairs receive a World Class Experience, but I receive one from them as well. Here is an example of the keys I use to unlock the doors to a wonderful World Class Experience.
The first door is opened by the host family. First impressions made by the family and by me will dictate our relationship in the future. Educating and assisting the host family with their expectations for their au pair, pinpointing and alleviating their concerns, encouraging their excitement and alerting them to potential stresses and common problems for host families, are just a few of the services that I provide.
When a match is made between a host family and an au pair, the second door is opened by me and my relationship with the AuPairCare au pair begins. I send an email welcoming her to Colorado. I provide the Colorado visitors' website so she can access additional information. I advise her to visit her dentist, not to pack too much and to contact me with any questions. Over seventy percent of these au pairs contact me prior to arrival to thank me or ask questions.
I also send an email to host families. This email reminds them to review materials left at the interview, stay in touch, plan a nice welcome event for their au pair and alert them as to when to expect the travel letter they will receive from AuPairCare. They are also encouraged to contact me with any questions they may have during this time about their au pair. Once the au pair has arrived, I take care of the family and au pair together. I do this by using a strong orientation format, an annual fun calendar of events, staying in touch, keeping fairly regular office hours, email access on weekends and an open door policy.
Providing World Class service to a variety of host families and au pairs is a wonderful day to day challenge. While this position involves a huge amount of variables, I am committed to exceeding the expectations of both host family and au pair during their time with me. I love holding the keys that unlock the doors to this unique cultural experience.
