Pre-Match Information
A "Pre-match" is when a Host Family has determined they would like to match with a specific au pair rather than review applicants who have been recruited through our overseas partners. The following are the guidelines and qualifications required by AuPairCare for pre-matching.
Au Pair Qualifications
In order for an au pair to be accepted into the AuPairCare program, she/he must meet the following requirements:
- Be 18-26 years of age
- Be a secondary school graduate
- Speak English proficiently
- Be in good health
- Have no criminal record
- Have over 200 hours of documented child care experience
AuPairCare requires an applicant's complete application be on file in our San Francisco office prior to acceptance into the program. No match will be processed unless the au pair is accepted into the program. The au pair application is lengthy and it may take time for the application to be complete. AuPairCare does not make any guarantee to the host family regarding arrival dates of an au pair that has not yet been accepted into the program.
Au Pair Pre-Match Qualifications
Au pairs who pre-match must meet these additional guidelines:
- Apply in their home country with an AuPairCare recruiting office
- Successfully complete the application and interview process
- Have completed application accepted by AuPairCare at least 5 weeks prior to the match deadline
- Must not arrive in the US prior to the arrival date scheduled by AuPairCare
- Arrive to the US with a J-1 Cultural Exchange Visitor's Visa
- Complete the AuPairCare Au Pair Academy Orientation and Training Program before traveling to the Host Family
Host Family Pre-match Qualifications
In order for a host family to be accepted into the AuPairCare program, they must meet the following requirements:
- The complete host family application must be received by the San Francisco office
- Comply with United Department of State regulations governing the au pair programs
- Agree to honor the terms of the AuPairCare Host Family Agreement
- Pay all fees as described in the Host Family program materials 30 days prior to the au pair's U.S. arrival date
Additional Information
- Due to the fact the majority of AuPairCare's program expenses are incurred in the arrival, orientation and support of the au pair and host family during the program year, AuPairCare does not offer pre-matched families a discount on program fees.
