Music
The earliest Thai ensembles were called Piphat, which included woodwind and percussion instruments that originally accompanied traditional theater and religious rituals. The Piphat is a form of Thai classical music and is considered a reflection of Thai identity, prestige and values.
Festivals
The people of Thailand love to celebrate and participate in traditional festivals that commemorate Thai culture. One of the most popular annual celebrations is the Songkran, a beautiful water festival that takes place during the Thai New Year celebration.
Cuisine
Thai cuisine is unique among the countries of Southeast Asia. Combining the five elemental flavors of sweet, sour, salty, bitter and hot spices, Thailand is known around the world for its exceptional blending of ingredients and flavors. Traditionally served with fresh steaming rice, Thai food is prepared to entice all senses particularly taste, sight and smell.
Dance
Traditional Thai dance is the main theatrical art form of Thailand. Thai dance can be divided into two major categories: classical dance and folk dance. Thai classical dance productions tell a story through dance, with a chorus troupe narrating the tale through song. Folk dance includes thrilling theatrical dance forms as well as numerous regional and ritual elements.
