Children are considered the most important family members and consequently they are celebrated and cherished as the cornerstone for future generations. Holidays are a significant time of family togetherness for Poles; bonding with family members is a wonderfully rewarding part of Polish holiday traditions.

Music

Classical musicians from Poland, including famous composers like Chopin and Penderecki, combined with pioneering folk music creates a dynamic and assorted music scene. In recent years Poland has been one of the few countries in Europe where rock and hip hop dominate over pop music, although all kinds of alternative music genres are strongly encouraged.

Festivals

Polish cities hold a plethora of festivals throughout the year.

Performances range from medieval street theaters to smoky jazz sessions, student "crazy" days, serious classical music performances, sailor festivals by the seaside and even folklore festivals in the mountains. "Shanties", Poland's most famous festival and one of Europe's largest festivals, takes place in Krakow and commemorates old sailor's songs.

Cuisine

As the Polish would say, "Jedzcie, pijcie i popuszczajcie pasa," which means to "Eat, drink and loosen your belt!" Polish cuisine is always accompanied by warm hospitality and a sumptuous meal. Influences in the Polish kitchen include Italian and French cuisine, as well as more exotic tables such as Armenian, Lithuanian, Cossack and Hungarian. Polish cuisine includes many types of meats, including duck and venison, as well as fruits of the forest, cabbage dishes, and a wide variety of delicious cheeses.

Sports

The Polish are avid sports lovers! Amid the scenic beauty of Poland, the main sports are hiking, skiing, horse riding, swimming, and canoeing. The Polish community has also gained international recognition in the Olympics. The famous Polish athlete, Adam Malysz, won the championship for ski-jumping in 2001.
