Montenegro

Montenegro, meaning Black Mountain, is located in Southeastern Europe on the coast of the Adriatic Sea bordered by Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo and Albania.  Montenegro gained independence from Serbia in 2006, and since then has been working to develop infrastructure and tourism. 

Aside from the picturesque coast and mountainous north, Montenegro has many significant cultural and historical sites dating from the pre-Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque periods with thousands of square meters of frescoes.  Montenegrin culture has been shaped by influence of Slavonic, Central European, Islamic, Grecian, Italian and Venetian cultures.
