Contact Information

  • Before you arrive in the United States, you should direct all questions to your overseas partner agency.
  • After you arrive in the United States, you should direct all of your questions first to your Area Director.  If your issue is urgent and your Area Director is not available, please contact your Regional Manager.  You can find your Area Director and Regional Manager’s contact information in Au Pair Room in the “My Representatives” section.
  • If you have an emergency, please call 1.800.428.7247 and you will be connected to Au Pair Care’s 24-hour emergency service. Someone from Au Pair Care will contact you as soon as possible if the matter is urgent.

Emergencies include situations where someone is in an unsafe situation or has a major health issue.  Issues that are not emergencies that can be addressed during normal business hours include routine program or travel questions, communication issues with host families and problems accessing online resources.

About Your Area Director

Your Area Director is your main point of contact in the United States and lives within an hour’s drive of your host family.  The Area Director’s most important role is to help both you and your host family have a successful and enjoyable year.  Your Area Director will:

  • Contact you within 48 hours of arrival to your host family’s home
  • Visit you and your host family within two weeks of your arrival at the host family’s home
  • Put you in contact with other au pairs in your area
  • Provide you with information on community resources, such as local educational options for your coursework requirement
  • Organize local social and cultural events
  • Maintain close contact with you and your host family during the year
  • Encourage effective communication and issue resolution for you and your host family
  • Answer all of your questions about travel and official documents

The Department of State requires that you talk with your Area Director at least monthly. Au Pair Care encourages you to attend the monthly events your Area Director organizes.
