Au Pair Café

Even before I started my year as an Au Pair I knew that I wanted to see as much of the United States as possible. I already went to several places in the US during my year. I went to Hawaii, Los Angeles, Sacramento (in Grass Valley, a town near Sacramento, is the most beautiful river I have ever seen), San Diego, Santa Cruz, Lake Tahoe, and Reno.

But there are still many places I want to see. That’s why I decided to do my whole travel month. I am going to start in Las Vegas. My friend, my sister and I are going stay there for 4 days. The hotel we are staying at is called the Circus Circus. One day we plan to rent a car and drive to the Grand Canyon.

Then we are going to fly to Miami. Since I don’t want to lose a day in an airplane we booked a red-eye flight. We are going to stay in a hostel one block from the beach. In Miami we also want to rent a car and drive to  Key West.

After 8 days we are flying to Chicago where we can stay with my host dad’s parents. We are going to stay there for three days.

From Chicago we are going to fly to Washington DC. We are not sure how long we want to stay there. We plan to take the bus up to New York from DC. In New York we can stay with my host mum’s parents.

Afterward we want to rent a car to drive up to the Niagara Falls.

Our last stop is Boston. From there I am going to fly home after 29 says of traveling.

My advice for all of you who want to travel is to book the flights as early as possible. I booked my flights 4 month before my travel month and got some good deals. For the flight from SF to Vegas e.g. I payed $64 Dollar. For the one from Vegas to Miami I payed $160 and for the one from Miami to Chicago and from Chicago to DC I payed 100 per flight. I found all of my flights on www.kayak.com but you should also check www.southwest.com.

I found a pretty good deal for the hotel in Vegas on www.expedia.com. We pay $330 for three persons (4 nights). The hotel is located at the strip so we are really close to all the atractions.

The hostel in Miami costs 120/person for 7 nights. I found it on www.hostelworld.com.

I also want to take the bus from DC to NYC and from NYC to Boston. I found a good deal on www.gotobus.com. Ther charge $15 per way.
