Making Your Year Successful in the Central / Southern Region

Dear Central / Southern Region Au Pairs,

We al realize that the old saying “home is where your heart is” rings true when you leave home, but sometimes, in the midst of yearning for “exciting places” we forget that it isn’t necessarily where you live - it’s what you do to make it home while you’re there.  What have you and other au pairs done to make your city an exciting place to live.  Please share your stories on the blog with the au pairs from the Central / Southern Region.

    Hi!
I’m looking for a host family in Nashville area. Could you please help me find a family? I would really appreciate your help.
    Thank you,
    Emilia.

HOME is anywhere you have friends who like family.

I call HOME here, becuase here is where my heart is, I like speding time with my kids and my host family, we will have a new baby and we’re all excited about it. They include me in ALL the things they do, soccer games, restaurants, vacations. They make me feel part of their family.

I have very good friends here, I like to hang out with them so much, we enjoy going to the movies, drinking coffee and of course traveling together. Daniela and I went to Chicago it was wonderful.
I have friends from Thailand, Mexico, Brazil, Sweden, Japan, Germany, Bolivia…..we’re a great group, we love to spend time talking, talking and talking, we have a lot in common, we share our problems and help each other.

I have a great family here. I have a really good times doing a lot of things. I think it is best to talk to my family. Every night I talk with them and I see each. That makes me very happy and gives me a lot of strength to move forward with what I am doing, yet I am very happy here with my host family because they are very kind and gentle with me and I really feel like in my house …

Actually the only thing I do to feel home is NOTHING hehe. My host parents make me feel home every single day, we go to family parties, we go to soccer games, parks, restaurants, or even stay home together. That’s what families do, right?
It’s been only two months since I arrived, and I met some very nice Au Pairs but we still didn’t do anything together (except for the two events Shelly arranged), so my plan for the weekend is going to the movies with my new friends, which I believe is going to make me feel even more home.
