Meet U.S. Host Families
Matching with the right host family is one of the important steps to becoming an au pair. All of our host families are carefully chosen to ensure that they will provide a supportive and safe home for you. Our experienced staff personally interviews each family and determines their suitability for the program.
While each family is unique and special, our host families do share some important characteristics. AuPairCare families have a genuine commitment to cultural exchange and want loving, quality care for their children. They are interested in the world, and look forward to learning about your country and culture. Most of all, they want you to feel welcome in your new home, and want you to become part of their family!
In addition to AuPairCare's careful screening, host families must meet all of the requirements set by the U.S. Department of State:
- Be fluent in English and speak English as the primary language in their home
- Provide you with a private bedroom
- Submit a completed application and two references
- Be willing to comply with U.S. Department of State regulations
- Limit your working hours to 45 hours per week, and no more than 10 hours per day
- Be U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents
