Life in the USA as an Au Pair

Living as an au pair in the United States will provide you with a unique perspective about life in America.  Because Americans tend to be very interested in people from other countries, you’ll find that during your program, Americans will generally be enthusiastic about introducing you to the American lifestyle.  They’ll also be interested in learning more about your country and customs.

There is no better way to learn about a different culture than to be completely immersed in it. Living with your host family and caring for their children will do just that. From everyday activities like going to the grocery store or eating dinner, to weekend trips or holiday gatherings, you will be surrounded by American culture.

You'll get to know your community, visit new places on weekends, and travel during your paid vacation. Your visa also gives you an extra month to travel throughout the United States at the end of your program. So whether you decide to explore the U.S. on your own or with friends you meet on the program, there are many adventures awaiting you.

During your program, your host family and local Au Pair Care Area Director are here to provide you with support and advice on how to make the most of your stay. You’ll also receive helpful information about American culture and living with your host family at Au Pair Care’s Au Pair Academy training program.

If you’re already looking forward to spending a year living the United States as an au pair, read on for how to get started!
